Careless Whisper - Ben Folds + Rufus Wainwright

They need to collaborate together much more often.

3D Design (Global Warming Packaging: Time is Running Out.)

Assignment: Package something that cannot be packaged.

My Interpretation: Package Global Warming in an hourglass; frozen water at the top, New York City (Statue of Liberty) at the bottom so that when all the ice has melted, little by little, the Statue of Liberty will be engulfed by water.

this. is. so. COOL.

Holy smokes; this is genius.

I have a very large space in my heart for art that extends through time in meaningful ways.

Coolest Elevator-Specific Ad of the Day: Unfortunately, this clever campaign is wasted on the promotion of a rather presumptuous plastic surgeon, but it’s boss nonetheless.
Also: As Redditor unintelligentperson points out, “if you’re holding a stack of pizzas and have to press the button with your ass…[t]hen God will be poking your ass!”

reblogging for my friend; I think he’ll get a kick outta this.

Oh yes. This is pretty much awesome.

The other night I headed into downtown Philly for a stroll with some friends from out of town. We walked down to Penn’s Landing along the river, where there are street performers, artists, musicians. We passed a great magician who did some pretty sweet tricks like pour change out of his iPhone, and then there was a preacher. He wasn’t quite as captivating as the magician. He stood on a box, yelling into a microphone, and beside him was a coffin with a fake dead body inside. He talked about how we are all going to die and go to hell if we don’t know Jesus.

Some folks snickered. Some told him to shut the hell up. A couple of teenagers tried to steal the dead body in the coffin. All I could do was think to myself, I want to jump up on a box beside him and yell at the top of my lungs, “God is not a monster.” Maybe next time I will.

An objective religious person in the objective human mass does not fear God; he does not hear him in the thunder, because that is a law of nature, and perhaps he is right. He does not see him in events, because they are the immanental necessity of cause and effect, and perhaps he is right. But what about the inwardness of being alone before God? Well, that is too little for him; he is not familiar with it, he who is on the way to accomplish the objective.

sometimes i realize, i'm kinda uninteresting.

samflower:

someone asks me what music I listen to, I can’t remember. music isn’t my life - it doesn’t even seem essential - even though I wake up with a different random song stuck in my head every morning out of nowhere. (today it was “smile” by uncle kracker)

what books do you read? I can’t remember a single title beyond The Phantom Tollbooth, but if you name one I’ve read, I can probably tell you if I loved it or didn’t get through it, or both.

what’s your favorite movie? probably the last one I saw.

who do you hang out with, you ask? people, there are great ones, but on a friday night I’m probably found doing spanish homework or falling asleep on it.

given all this, I’m not really sure how conversation is possible with me. it must take patience.

But you ARE interesting.

Phooey on music, literature, movies, and ‘hanging out’. Those are all great things, but conversation and relationship are not slaughtered if you inhabit a vague realm for these things, and they by no means encompass the entire realm of experience and value, and they by no means encompass you.

If I were you, I would go out into nowhere tomorrow morning, plant your feet, inhale deeply, and yell (as loudly as you can) ‘HUZZAH!’

Then run as fast as you can as long as you can. And when you’re done with that, keep hold of this atmosphere. It’s good stuff.

No joke

I just received a rather long, official confirmation e-mail for my GRE registration (December 29, at 1:00 PM).

I’m giddy for that. But the best part? The signature.
